MEET THE CREW: Diana Flores
Diana Flores , Editor for ”Little t“
How did you manage pacing in the editing of "Little t," given its brief length (~6 minutes)?
I think short runtime make for really exciting opportunities to hone down on your story and get to the root of what you want to tell. It’s important that the audience
feel engaged with our characters immediately and not lose interest during their journey. Pacing is a key component of that. Introducing new elements and obstacles
without forgetting what the overall goal is for our protagonist is what I mainly looked for. Some ways of moving the story along included speeding up shots, cutting lines
we didn’t need, and reworked certain sections until we got it just right.
What drew you to the art of editing and how did your passion influence the choices you made for "Little t”?
I’ve been interested in creative work since I was a kid. Editing felt like the natural progression for me as I loved spending time on the computer and troubleshooting issues.
I feel like this influenced my work for Little t in the characters of Mira, the little girl and Alexis, our main character. Being passionate about one thing from a young age and sticking
through it until adulthood and trying to make it your career is not always easy. But being persistent and remembering why you love it in the first place makes it all worthwhile when
you finally get there. I tried to keep that with me as we were making the film.
What's your favorite dessert or comfort food?
My absolute favorite dessert is a chocolate chip cookie! It’s really the perfect treat. It’s light, portable, delicious, and you can’t eat just one. Whenever I’m out and need a little
pick me up (or really just see any array of sweet treats) more times than not I’ll go for the chocolate chip cookie.
