Meet the Crew: Max Rodriguez
Max Rodriguez, Story Artist and Animator for “Little t“
1. How did you approach bringing our characters to life through animation, and what were some of the techniques you used?
For the animation, I already had some base animation to go off of. We were really just adding some stutter to the step so you felt her shift her weight to make the arm swing out and the paper to be lost seem believable. I pushed some of the facial expressions to get that certain look you give a recruiter. I also changed up the camera position because I wanted to make sure the audience KNEW that she was reaching for the door handle to leave.
2. Can you share a behind-the-scenes moment from the animation process that you found particularly memorable or interesting?
What really worked out timing wise was that my office mate was in the animation department for many years before shifting over to the simulation department. I could turn around and ask her some questions about the weight and arcs. She also did some filming so I could use for reference.
3. What do you hope audiences take away from your animation work in this short film?
I only did one shot, so I'm hoping the audience doesn't sneeze. I hadn't animated in a long time (and I'm still just a student of it) that I hope it passes the test.
4. What’s your favorite comfort food or desert?
My goto feel good food is the Chicharrones de Pollo from Cholita Linda and their aqua fresca (with no ice).
