MEET THE CREW: Jenny Horn

Jenny Horn, Graphics Designer for ”Little t“

  1. Can you tell us a bit about your inspiration for the opening and closing credits for "Little t"?

I tried to draw inspiration for the title art from the style and setting of the film. We wanted the title to feel like a mosaic that you might see at the entrance to the cafe. Because a lot of the visuals in the film drew some inspiration from artists Gustav Klimt and Arisa Nakahara, I looked at some of their works for inspiration as well, especially with some of the hidden shapes and designs in the background. I used a lot of curves to make it feel organic, but most of the background tiles are squares whereas the tiles in the letters are much more angular and jagged. There are even a few chipped tiles -- we all have some jagged edges and imperfections in life.

We decided to keep it a bright and cartoony feel (something that Mira would have loved!) to match the bright tone of the film. At the end, we used the same overall shape for the words "Little t", but changed the color to be white with a blue background, to give it more of an architectural blueprint look. This added a bit more contrast so the title really stands out, and transitioned smoothly into the credits.

  2. Were there any particular challenges you faced while designing the credits, and how did you overcome them?

The trickiest part of designing the credits was trying to balance things visually. Figuring out the right font style and size, as well as the order and overall positions of people's names (which sometimes varied widely in length), took a good amount of trial and error to settle on the right design.

  3. What’s your favorite comfort food or desert?

Cereal and milk is my ultimate comfort food!
